Call for Papers

Sankofa Griotte Journal (SGJ) welcomes articles submissions in English covering all aspects of African history, with a particular focus on the history of African communities over time, in Africa or elsewhere. SGJ will gladly accept papers from master’s degree students and scholars. We accept works of poetry, essays, book reviews and creative fiction. SGJ is meant to be a curated gallery with documents added periodically.

Document Structure

Each article must contain the following sections: title, author information, abstract, introduction, body, conclusion, and references. All authors must include a brief biography at the end of the paper (three to four sentences).

Sankofa Archives requires the following from author(s):

All papers must be edited (an absolute must).

Name of author(s)
Name of university and course (for master’s degree students)
References to be included (for text and images) (an absolute must)
Font Style: Times New Roman
Font Size: Twelve
Citation Style: Chicago
The text should be approximately 5 -15 pages long.
SGJ requests the use of Microsoft Word.

Absolutely no alterations will be made to a paper by Sankofa Archives; therefore, you are advised to check your paper carefully for any spelling, punctuation, grammatical errors, and typos. All documents can be sent as a Word attachment or in PDF format. Once a paper has been approved to be part of the collection, a letter will be send to the author(s) notifying him or her of the paper’s acceptance to the SGJ.
