Note:
Alfred Jackson was born at the Hermitage. Indeed, both his mother and father were slaves on Jackson's Hermitage plantation. Following the war and emancipation, Alfred remained at the Hermitage. He eventually moved into this cabin. Alfred became a tour guide and caretake at the Hermitage. He died in 1901 and is buried close to President Jackson.
