William Whipper
Note:
In 1829, Whipper was a wealthy and respected abolitionist and book collector, who organized the Reading Room Society, in Philadelphia, for the mental improvement of people of color.
In 1833, he was one of the nine founders of the Philadelphia Library of Colored Persons.
